Letter: Goshen Church’s bazaar features food, quilt raffle

To the editor:

It’s once again time for the Goshen Community Church Holiday Bazaar and bean dinner. It will take place Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is our 12th year and may be our last.

As our congregation ages, fewer people are able to help put on such a huge event. The quilt alone takes almost a year to make with only one person working on it. And I have graduation quilts to make for seven more grandchildren over the next few years. I’m already two years late on one granddaughter’s quilt; she’s a sophomore in college and still doesn’t have her high school graduation quilt!

Handmade crafts include crocheted hats, baby afghans, cloth books, potholders and other kitchen items, as well as jams and jellies.

Our bake sale table will have such goodies as cookies, pies, breads and persimmon pudding.

As usual, we will have a dinner of bowl of soup, corn muffins, side of slaw and a choice of dessert and drink for a $5 donation.

A queen-sized quilt, “Glory Bound,” in autumn colors, will be raffled. Tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5 and will be available at the bazaar, or you may purchase them prior to the bazaar by calling Ruth Fox at 812-988-7892. Drawing for the quilt will be at 3 p.m. and you need not be present to win. So don’t miss your chance to win this beautiful quilt. It may be your last chance.
