‘Pumpkins on Parade’ attracts onlookers

The row of jack-o-lanterns you may have seen surrounding Brown Bike restaurant downtown was a partnership between Brown County Schools and the restaurant.

Brown Bike owners, the Crook brothers, partnered with local teachers on the project and provided them with pumpkins for students to carve and decorate, said Kim Xenos, who owns the buildings Brown Bike leases.

Students in art classes led by Anne Brahaum at Brown County Intermediate School and Laurette Roales at Brown County Junior High School participated, as well as children at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Bean Blossom Community Church, New Life Community Church and Nashville United Methodist Church.

“As a former teacher, I can appreciate the effort that was required to provide the students with this seasonal art project,” Xenos wrote in an email to The Democrat. “While we were there tonight I saw several people stopping to take photographs. It really is an awesome display!”
