Letter: Reelected Jackson Township trustee thanks supporters

To the editor:

My name is Sandra K Higgins and I am Jackson Township trustee here in Brown County. I want to say thank you to all the citizens of Jackson Township for believing in me and trusting me to serve you as your township trustee for the next four years. I feel very blessed that no one ran against me during this last midterm election.

I have learned the how-to and I have experienced how the adapting of policies from the state level down to our individual township’s level are done, and Jackson Township does not compare to many other townships in the state of Indiana, as well as the other three townships in Brown County.

I am very proud of the accomplishments I have made with several of our cemeteries and want to add to some stone repairs, not only for our township cemeteries, but help with repairs to some private cemeteries that have their own associations. I will be continuing to work closely with our two volunteer fire departments, (Fruitdale Volunteer Fire Department and Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department), as well as our special township assistance clients.

I also work with several not-for-profit groups and serve on their boards, which helps me to pass that knowledge on to my township assistance clients. Oh, yes, I am also so happy that I will be able to continue to modernize our books.

As I have stated before, Brown County is a unique county as well as Jackson Township is a very unique township here in the state of Indiana, and my concern is my clients as well as the citizens of Jackson Township and their challenges that we are all facing today in this world. I want to help in any way I can. I know I won’t solve those challenges, but if I can help, maybe our children and/or grandchildren can learn along the way.

Thank you again for the last 3 years and 11 months, and I look forward to serving the citizens of Jackson Township for four more years.

Sandra K. Higgins, Brown County
