Letter: Scout’s family thanks locals for helping reach goal

To the editor:

I am writing you to express a public thank-you to members of the Brown County community for their support of my son in the pursuit of his Boy Scout experience.

In January 2019, Garrett Mixon earned his Eagle Scout rank as part of Troop 772 of The Woodlands, Texas. Garrett is the grandson of Jim Hays of Nashville and the late Patty Hays.

For many years, Garrett has spent spring break or summer vacation trips in Nashville. Those trips often included activities that helped him progress through his Cub Scout and Boy Scout ranks. Many people in the community support him in community service, taking care of shelter animals or learning about roles in public service.

In addition, in October 2018, Garrett completed his Eagle Scout project which included building bird houses and planters for a local rehabilitation and long-term care facility. Nashville friends and family of Jim and Patty Hays were very gracious in financially supporting his project.

Thank you to Garrett’s grandparents and the others who have supported his in this very rewarding Journey.

Theresa Mixon, The Woodlands, Texas
