Letter: BETA thankful for help in keeping program running

To the editor:

BETA (Brown County Enrichment for Teens Association) would like to sincerely thank the volunteers who helped for BETA’s Fix-up Day Project on Feb. 6 and 7 despite the pouring rain. Scott Mills, Mike Griffin and Mark Zimmerer from Habitat for Humanity; Lory Winford and Bill Hastings from Artist Alliance Brown County; Nate Tipton; Carol Bell and Pam Boer all went beyond and above to bring materials, to repair and beautify the building where BETA is now located at 175 S. Jefferson St.

We would like to specially thank John Knight and Knight trash company for donating the delivery costs for two old couches from the BETA center and thank Ginger Knight and Johnny’s Grub-To-Go for providing delicious food during those project days.

We would like to thank Lonnie Farlee, Brown County Building Department, and Jennifer Rugenstein, Brown County Health Department, for their support to help BETA comply with building and health regulations.

BETA is having its annual fundraiser, the Brown County Youth Music Showcase, on Saturday, March 9 at Brown County Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. with the concert donation from Kara Barnard and her music students, and we would like to invite our community to come to support this important day for BETA and for its successful operation to support our teens in 2019 and 2020. The door will be open at 6:30 p.m. with light refreshments for early bidders for the silent auction.

BETA is always looking for volunteers and board members to spend time with teens, help for their activities or simply to be around them. BETA is open on Tuesdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m. with free snacks and programs available for Brown County teens at 175 S. Jefferson St., just across from The Salvation Army Church. Please check our Facebook, “BETA Teen Center,” to follow or like us, and send your donations to BETA, P.O. Box 1194, Nashville, IN 47448 all year long. Please contact Clara Stanley at 312-310-3617 or email [email protected] with any questions.

Again, BETA is so thankful to our fabulous volunteers and Brown County community for your ongoing support and caring for our youth. We do hope to see many of you on Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at the Brown County Playhouse!

Respectfully submitted by,

Clara Stanley, BETA board president
