SCHOOL NEWS: High school football visitor bleachers to be replaced

Visitors coming to watch a football game or track meet at Brown County High School next fall will have a new place to sit.

The wooden visitor bleachers at the high school’s football field are rotting and had holes in them, Superintendent Laura Hammack explained at the March 28 Brown County Schools Board of Trustees meeting. The bleachers were remodeled around seven years ago. Hammack said the district will go with metal to replace the bleachers this time.

The cost to remodel the bleachers is $61,370. Hammack said the work will be covered by bond dollars the district already has.

Hammack said the remodel will be done in time for football season. Demolition and removal will happen in May. Installation will take one week over the summer, she said.

“You can’t have holes for folks to fall through,” she said.
