JACKSON TWP. — A 52-year-old Brown County woman was taken to a hospital on Aug. 24 after a vehicle pinned her against her home while she was weed-eating.

Police, fire and emergency personnel responded to a home in the 4800 block of North Morrison Road just after 9 p.m., according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell.

Officers found the victim, Wendy Stanfill, sitting on the ground next to the home and crying out in pain.

A man at the scene, identified as Stanfill’s companion, said the two were mowing the lawn, and when it began to get dark, he positioned a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado truck closer to the home with its headlights on so they could see, the report states.

He said he thought he left the truck in park, and then he went to the other side of the home to weed-eat. When he came back around, he reported finding Stanfill pinned between the home and truck. He moved the truck to free Stanfill before police and first responders arrived, according to the report.

Stanfill told police she was weed-eating when the weed-eater stopped working. She stopped to fix the string while facing the home, and out of nowhere she said she was hit by the truck, pinning her against the home. The truck was pulling a large utility trailer that had two lawn mowers on it.

Stanfill told police they did have some mechanical issues with the truck prior to the incident.

Stargell reported seeing damage to the vinyl siding on the south side of the home. This is not the home where the couple lives, according to the addresses listed on the police report.

Stanfill had severe pain in her left leg and was taken to a hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
