VAN BUREN TWP. — Over the holiday weekend, a 17-year-old Brown County resident struck a tree head-on while driving on Poplar Grove Road.

The crash was reported near Bellsville Pike around 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld.

Quentin Heltman told police he was driving north when he went left of center in a curve and hit fluid on the road. Heltman lost traction before running of the west side of the road and striking the tree, the report states.

Heltman was treated at the scene for hip pain. The vehicle was towed to his home. He was wearing a seat belt.
