Letter: Great job getting info out at Septic Summit

To the editor:

On Sept. 3, we attended the Septic Summit at the fairgrounds. Not sure what to expect, but hoping to learn the latest on all things septic, we were very pleased with the turnout as well as all the information available.

A panel discussion took written questions from the audience. Questions were all pertinent to maintenance and repair of septics, water quality, soil quality, etc., and were answered by knowledgeable experts in this field.

Various septic equipment was available for viewing, and equipment representatives were on hand to explain the equipment and answer questions.

Even if you have owned a septic system for many years, the information provided at the Septic Summit was most useful and worth the trip to town. Our top takeaway was the importance of paying attention to and maintaining our septic system — much, much less expensive than dealing with the cost of a system failure.

Kudos to Clint Studabaker for his hard work putting together the Septic Summit. Our thanks to Brown County League of Women Voters, Purdue Extension Service, Brown County Soil & Water Conservation, Brown County Regional Sewer District and Brown County Health Department for co-sponsoring the event.
