Lions club
The Brown County Lions Club board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane. Anyone interested in Lions is invited to attend. The next board meeting will be Jan. 7.
The Lions meet the third Tuesday of each month at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East, with a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Jan. 21.

Widowed group
The Brown County Widowed Group will not meet in January. The next meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 8. Any widowed person who wants to learn about the group may call Keith Bradway at 812-597-0811 or Joanne Day at 812-597-5593.
Widowed group euchre games will take place at 1 p.m. at the community center on Tuesdays, Jan. 14 and 28.
Pioneer Women
The Pioneer Women’s Club meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. Interested women are welcome.
Rotary club
The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 at Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.
The guest speaker will be Rotarian Maddison Miller, who just celebrated her first year as the CEO of the Brown County Community Foundation. It was a year of record fundraising, grantmaking, new programming and community planning initiatives.
Miller will discuss “Collaborating with BCCF to Advance Rotary Causes.” For more than 100 years, Rotary has bridged cultures to champion peace, fight illiteracy and poverty, promote clean water and sanitation and fight disease. She will address current service initiatives to overcome problems in the community jointly recognized by both Rotary and the BCCF.
Members of the community — especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to our community — are invited to attend.
Genealogical society
The Brown County Genealogical Society will have its annual membership meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 at the library. The agenda includes election of a board member, discussing ideas for upcoming meetings, and sharing of research successes and “brick walls.” For more information, call 812-597-5636.
Cemetery preservation
The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St., Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 4:15 p.m. The society is a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group. All are welcome.
Peaceful Valley Heritage
Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc., a preservation group, meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at the Brown County Community Foundation building, 209 N. Van Buren St., on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Book club
A Novel Bunch book club meets every third Wednesday at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane, at 2 p.m. in meeting room B. The next meeting is Jan. 15.
