Club news for week of Jan. 21

Rotarian Dwight Thompson (left) introduced Hannah Asher as the Rotary Club of Brown County’s Student of the Month for December. Asher was accompanied by her mother, Trina, her brother, Nolan, and her English teacher, Julie Miller, who nominated Hannah. According to Miller said that Hannah is an excellent student, a diligent worker and a pleasure to have in class. She is a varsity cheerleader, participates in competitive cheering, and runs cheering clinics for younger students. She also works part-time. She has been accepted at Franklin College and plans to study exercise science and pursue a career in physical therapy. Submitted photo

Lions club

The Brown County Lions Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East, with a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Jan. 21.

The Lions Club board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane. Anyone interested in Lions is invited to attend. The next board meeting will be Feb. 4.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will not meet in January. The next meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 8. Any widowed person who wants to learn about the group may call Keith Bradway at 812-597-0811 or Joanne Day at 812-597-5593.

Cemetery preservation

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St., Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 4:15 p.m. The society is a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group. All are welcome.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc., a preservation group, meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at the Brown County Community Foundation building, 209 N. Van Buren St., on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Pioneer Women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. Interested women are welcome.

Book club

A Novel Bunch book club meets every third Wednesday at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane, at 2 p.m. in meeting room B. The next meeting is Feb. 19. For more information, call the library at 812-988-2850.

Herb society

The Brown County Herb Society meets the third Monday of each month. The club will meet in the lower level at the Brown County Public Library on Monday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join. Call the library at 812-988-2850 for more information.
