SCHOOL NEWS: CRC exceeds adult education goals

The Career Resource Center of Brown County has exceeded a goal set for the number of adults enrolled in education programs there.

At the March 5 school board meeting, Superintendent Laura Hammack announced that the CRC was given the goal of enrolling 23 adults this year by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The CRC’s total enrollment for adult education is 64.

“That is a 278 percent-above-goal percentage. We’re compared with other members of this region. The closest percentage was 103 percent,” Hammack said.

“It is incredible. They are knocking it out of the park. As you know, those units are tied to reimbursement, so as she (CRC Director Christy Wrightsman) has more adults that are being educated, so increases her reimbursement, but it also advances our community.”

Hammack said that often in the evenings, the CRC parking lot is full, meaning that cars often park in the nearby Brown County Junior High School parking lot.

“If you drive by at night, it’s always busy. What is happening there at the CRC is so exciting and honestly is exactly what we intended it to be,” she said.
