Spring Blossom Parade canceled this year

Message from the Brown County Lions Club today:

“With regret and a sense of unity with our community, the Brown County Lions Club announces the cancellation of the 2020 Spring Blossom Parade scheduled for Saturday, May 2.

“With the nation/world now requiring social distance by cancelling large gatherings in arenas, schools, and public and commercial spaces to fight the COVID-19 virus, we must forgo this annual custom for the health and safety of all our neighbors.

“This was to have been the 57th annual parade and a tradition that began in 1929 to welcome all people to enjoy the sights and sounds of Brown County, including, at that time, the blossoming of 36 orchards in the area.  Since the 1980s, the Lions Club has organized the parade in the same tradition of service that inspired earlier community members and organizations to sponsor the parade.

“To all our neighbors — the individuals, groups, and organizations, including churches, businesses, fire and law enforcement departments, political parties, car, history, antique, and animal lovers who regularly join us in the parade and sponsor games, meals, entertainment, and fun all weekend — Lions are already planning for next year.  With deep gratitude for this community, we’ll see you at the 58th Annual Spring Blossom Parade the first Saturday of May, 2021.”
