Gayla J. (Emberton) Haley, age 68 passed away all too soon on Thursday morning, April 16, 2020 at her home in Brown County. She was a former resident of Indianapolis.
Gayla was born March 31, 1952 in Franklin, to her parents, James E. and Virginia D. (Tankersley) Emberton. She was a 1970 graduate of Brown County High School. Gayla retired in 2019 as an administrative secretary for Bright Sheet Metal Co. in Indianapolis after more than 25 years of service.
She was a member of the Grace Bible Church in New Whiteland. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, traveling, fishing and singing. Gayla also enjoyed shopping on the QVC Channel, wearing jewelry and collecting anything with elephants on it. Gayla was a fan of old black and white movies and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She will be missed by her loving daughter, Kelly Lynn (husband, Max) Mueller of Greenwood; siblings, James Patrick Emberton of Indianapolis, Shirley Mullikin of Martinsville, Colleen Lehr and Linda Dilley, both of Brown County and Joyce Chittum of Clay City; and several nieces and nephews.
Gayla was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Daniel Emberton.
Due to the current restrictions created by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Pastor Peter Helland will conduct a private family graveside service on Monday at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. A service to celebrate Gayla’s life will be held at the Grace Bible Church for her friends and church family at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
