Naomi F. (Wright) Vandagrifft, age 94 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 13, 2020 at The Waters of Martinsville. She was a resident of Martinsville.
Naomi was born Jan. 27, 1926 in Salem, to the late Ellsworth Leroy and Florence Edith (Smedley) Wright. She was a 1944 graduate of Nineveh High School and went on to retire after more than 35 years as the office manager for Vandagrifft Oil in Martinsville, which her and her husband owned and managed.
She married Carl Vandagrifft, on May 27, 1945. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2012 after 67 loving and devoted years of marriage.
Naomi was also preceded in death by siblings, Mary Jane Dodd, Ernest and Paul Wright.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Buddy) Sullivan of Morgantown; siblings, Carolyn (David) Reynolds and Robert “Bob” Wright, both of Franklin; grandchildren, Brent (Amanda) Sullivan of Whiteland, Sherri (Paul) Waters of Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Dunn Waters, Cash Waters, Logan Sullivan and Levi Waters.
Naomi enjoyed working crossword puzzles, caring for her dog and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved spending time with her family especially at Christmas time. She was known as the one who always passed out the presents. Naomi will be remembered for delicious homemade peach cobbler.
Pastor Travis Taylor will conduct a service on Wednesday, June 17 at 2 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
