Letter: Brown County VFD fish tent won’t open

To the editor:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce there will be no Brown County Volunteer Fire Department Fish Tent in Nashville this year. Due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19 and lack of volunteers, we have decided that it is in the best interest of the community to cancel this year’s event.

This will be the first year since 1954 that the Brown County Volunteer Fire Department has not hosted this event.

We did not make this decision lightly, as this is a major source of funding for the fire department. Without the funds from this event, it will be a struggle to maintain day to day operations. We are trying to establish other fundraising opportunities in the near future to help replace some of the lost revenue.

We ask that you please consider donating to the fire department, whether it be with your time or a monetary sum. We will need all of the support this community can muster in order to continue to provide a fire department response to fires, motor vehicle accidents and EMS calls.

To find out how you can offer support or donate, please visit www.browncountyvfd.org.

Sincerely,

Brown County Volunteer Fire Department (submitted by Hunter Riebl)
