Commissioner elected to state association office

Brown County commissioner Diana Biddle was elected 2021 vice president of the Indiana Association of County Commissioners (IACC) by county commissioners across the state. Tom Murtaugh, Tippecanoe County commissioner, said that Biddle will be a great spokesperson for their association and is very dedicated to improving local government.

As vice president, Biddle will represent the elected county commissioners in the 92 counties of Indiana. She will be vice president of the IACC’s Board of Directors, which determines policies and legislative goals for the association.

Tom Wall, Huntington County commissioner, was elected president; Mark Heirbrandt, Hamilton County commissioner, was elected treasurer; and Elmer Brames, Dubois County commissioner, was elected secretary.

Locally made liqueur named to national best list

Hard Truth Hills’ Toasted Coconut Rum Cream Liqueur was named to Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Spirits of 2020 list.

The list represents spirits that have been reviewed this year, and “spans a broad range of categories and price points, from a $250 single-barrel bourbon to an $8 extra-dry vermouth ideal for elevating your martini.”

Toasted Coconut Rum Cream, at $30, earned a score of 95 out of a possible 100 and was ranked second among the liqueurs. The review mentioned its “vanilla and toasted coconut tones” with “a surprising saltiness on the finish that suggests Maldon salt flakes on top of a vanilla wafer, unusual in a cream liqueur” and suggested it be used as a mixer in tropical cocktails.

The spirit is distilled at Hard Truth Hills, 418 Old State Road 46.
