GATESVILLE — An Indianapolis couple, ages 83 and 81, had to be flown to the hospital after one-vehicle trash on Gatesville Road June 13.

Police and EMS responded to the crash on Gatesville Road near Salt Creek Road just after noon. The driver, 83-year-old Harold Massey, told Sgt. Colton Magner that he was driving east when a curve came up suddenly, causing him to go off the road, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Horn.

Massey’s vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Judy Massey, 81, was the only passenger and had facial injuries. Horn reported she had possible internal injuries as well.

The couple was taken to the Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department to be transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by medical helicopters for treatment for possible internal injuries.

Their vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. The couple was wearing seat belts.
