2 charged in death of Indianapolis woman found near creek

NASHVILLE, Ind. — Two Indianapolis residents have been charged in connection with the slaying of a woman whose body was found last fall by a deer hunter near a southern Indiana creek.

Paul S. Fox, 64, faces a preliminary charge of murder, while Candy A. Lopez Ortega, 28, has a pending charge of assisting a criminal, Indiana State Police said.

State police said detectives arrested Fox and Ortega on Wednesday while serving search warrants in Indianapolis in connection with the death of Angela Weisheit, 38, of Indianapolis.

Fox and Ortega were taken to the Brown County Jail in Nashville, The Herald-Times reported.

Weisheit’s body was found in in November 2020 by a deer hunter near a creek in Brown County’s in rural Hamblen Township.
