Dolores Ann (Koopman) Seay 91 of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday September 2, 2021 after a brief illness, with family and friends close by. Dolores was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 5, 1930 to Wilbur and Susie (Van Dyke) Koopman. Raised on the southeast side of town, she graduated from Southport High School in 1948. She remained in close contact with many of her classmates throughout her life. On January 14, 1950, Dolores married L. David Seay at Garfield Park Baptist Church in Indianapolis, he preceded her in death on June 18, 1996. They were married for forty-six years. In addition to raising a family, Dolores worked for more than twenty-five years in Christian retail, first at Romar Christian Bookstore and then at Tree of Life Christian Store in Greenwood. She finally retired at the age of 82. A woman of deep faith, Dolores worshipped and served at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church for most of her adult life. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, sponsored the Bible Bowl teams, led a mom’s mentoring group and served in countless other ways. She generously shared and her influence helped shape many. In recent years, she attended Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship. In her retirement, Dolores traveled widely with family and friends and especially cruising: the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska and more. She once parasailed over St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Dolores is survived by her children: Julie Tucker and her husband Rick of Indianapolis, IN, Cindy Stephenson of Indianapolis, IN, Steven Seay of Providence, RI and Scott Seay of Greenwood, IN, four grandchildren Alan Emberton, Michael Emberton, Taylor Stephenson and Savannah Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Bob Seay, in 2007 and a grandson Micah Stephenson in 2013. A service will be conducted on Wednesday September 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends can connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/dolores-seay.
