June Mercer, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was a resident of Nashville.

June was born May 7, 1938, in Indianapolis, to her parents the late Rev. Charles K. and Alice Pauline (Floyd) Mercer. She attended Carmel High School. Throughout her life, June lived in 12 states with Rhode Island being her favorite place to live. She enjoyed reading historical novels, with Kurt Vonnegut being her favorite author. June also enjoyed writing and listening to Frank Sinatra. She would often say that when her time came, she was excited to see her children Duane and Lynn Ellen and meet Frank Sinatra and John Wayne. She will be remembered most for her strong sense of humor.

June worked various positions throughout her life. She worked as a Sales Associate at Blocks Department Store in Bloomington, worked for Bill Cook Insurance for 7 years and also worked in the cosmetology industry for a short time. However, June’s most important job was being a mother to her three children.

June will be missed by her daughter: Marlene J. (Larry) Gardner of Nashville and grandchildren: Daniel Essary, Garth Lindner and Justin Mercer and great-grandchildren: Danilynn, Ella, Alden, Alexa, Kaleigh, and Dominic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Lynn Ellen Collier and son Duane Alden Lindner.

In keeping with June’s wishes, she will be cremated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
