Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East, or via Zoom.

Tim Lee, who will discuss his work with the Chin community in Indianapolis. The Chin are a religious and ethnic minority from Myanmar — formerly Burma — who are oppressed by the military junta (Tatmadaw) that overthrew the democratically elected government of Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.

Lee is the owner of T. Lee Engineering, Inc. and is a licensed professional engineer in Indiana and several surrounding states who specializes in forensic analysis of structural damage.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Purdue University and an Master of Business Administration from Indiana University. Lee is a past district governor of Rotary District 6580, to which the Brown County club belongs. He participated in Polio National Immunization Days in India in 2000 and in 2012 in Karachi, Pakistan. He has jumped out of perfectly good airplanes to raise funds for Rotary.

Christiansburg Cemetery Association

VAN BUREN TWP. — The Christiansburg Cemetery Association will meet at the Christiansburg Methodist Church, 7372 Christiansburg Road, will meet Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Beekeepers club

The 10 o’clock Beeline Beekeepers Club will hold its next monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, in one of the meeting rooms on the lower level of the Brown County Library, 205 Locust Lane.

Anyone interested in bees or beekeeping is welcome to attend. Experienced beekeepers in the club are available as mentors to anyone thinking about taking up the activity.

Bible study

BEAN BLOSSOM — Brown County women are invited to attend Joy in the Morning, a non-denominational Bible study for women, at the Bean Blossom Community Church, 5046 State Road 135 North, on Thursday mornings, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The next meeting is Sept. 2.

Coffee and fellowship begins at 10 a.m. Childcare is provided and transportation is available if needed. Besides the occasional purchase of the study guide, there is no cost to attend; an offering is taken for childcare. If you would like to attend and need a ride send an email to [email protected].

Veterans meetings

Veterans service organizations of Brown County have various meetings throughout the month, all meeting at Veterans Hall, 902 Deer Run Lane.

  • Vietnam Veterans of Brown County meet on first Wednesdays. The next meeting is Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars meet on second Thursdays. The next meeting is Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.
  • American Legion meets on third Wednesdays. The next meeting is Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
