Don was a lifelong resident of Morgantown, Indiana where he married Sharon Woods on June 28, 1953. They were married for 68 years and resided in Morgantown, Indiana.
Don was a school bus driver for 45 years for the Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson School Corporation in Trafalgar, Indiana as well as being the local Mobil Oil man for 20 years from 1966 through 1986. He also kept busy with his dump truck business hauling stone and other materials for local contractors and customers.
Don always kept livestock on the farm, mostly cattle and horses. He was a well-loved citizen of Morgantown where he was a Volunteer Fireman and Street Commissioner in his early years.
Surviving Don are his loving wife of 68 years, Sharon, along with his son, Lennie Zimmerman of Morgantown, Indiana and daughter, Lisa (Dave) Collier of North Liberty, Indiana. His only sister, Phyllis (Zimmerman) Willis survives and lives in Covington, Indiana, and his niece and nephew Debbie Willis (Richie) and Ron Willis (Chris), who also reside in Covington, Indiana.
Also surviving are six grandchildren: Jamie Zimmerman, Kyle Zimmerman (Megan), Shana (Collier) Laskowski, Cody Collier (Ashlie), Kasee (Zimmerman) Young, and Joel Zimmerman. Surviving also are 15 great-grandchildren: Hope, Cale, Seth, Masen, David, Ava, Jack, Charlie, Henry, Piper, Ayanna, Addie, Blythe, EJ, and Fynleigh.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald Zimmerman and mother Lena (Rainwater) Zimmerman, by two sons, Mark Zimmerman in 1982 and Jed Zimmerman in 1983 and grandson, Chet Zimmerman in 1998.
He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.
