A senior member of the Brown County High School girls golf team recently received a state honor.

Abby Padgett was named to the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association (IHSGCA) Girls Academic All-State Team earlier this month.

Padgett is one of 15 senior golfers from across the state to be selected.

Selection is based on a formula using SAT/ACT scores and grade point average. Padgett and the other recipients were honored at a banquet at the Golf Club of Indiana in Zionsville on Oct. 8.

Two other Brown County senior golfers, Annika Evenson and Ainslie Winton, qualified for the award and were named to the Honorable Mention Academic All-State team.

“Abby, Ainslie and Annika have been instrumental to our girls golf program,” said girls golf Coach Brad Baughman.

“In addition to leading us on the course, the three have demonstrated exceptional character on and off the course and have done their best to lead our underclassmen. Any success we have had the last couple of years can be attributed to these three.”
