Summary: Brown County High School students Chase Austin and Hadley Gradolf won sectional titles. Boys team placed third. Austin and Gradolf move on to regional at Ceraland on Oct. 16.

Summary: Boys team placed fourth with 119 points to move on to Brown County semistate. Hadley Gradolf placed fourth to move on to Brown County semistate.

IHSAA Semistate
Summary: Brown County finished 18th with 441 points, but did qualify one runner to Saturday’s state finals at Terre Haute’s LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Chase Austin placed 17th in 15:53.2 to advance as an individual. Brown County’s Hadley Gradolf qualified for state as an individual for the third consecutive year. She finished 13th in 18:48.4.

Brown County 24, North Putnam 33
Summary: Brown County led 24-20 after three quarters Friday, but North Putnam rallied for a 33-24 Western Indiana Conference win. Seth Oliphant threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Kody Walsh in the first quarter, and Wanblee Roux scored on runs of 75 and 8 yards in the third quarter for the Eagles (3-5, 2-3). Roux and Oliphant ran for 2-point conversions, and Oliphant hit Evan Asher with a 2-point conversion pass.

Brown County 12, Edgewood 0
Summary: After a scoreless first half Friday, Brown County scored a pair of second-half touchdowns to finish the regular season with a 12-0 Western Indiana Conference win at Edgewood. Seth Oliphant hit Blake Grider for a 50-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and Wanblee Roux ran 24 yards for a score in the fourth period for the Eagles (4-5). Roux finished with 19 carries for 141 yards and led the defense with 14 tackles, including four sacks.

IHSAA sectional
Brown County 47, Pike Central 20
Summary: Pike Central jumped out to an early 6-0 lead Friday night, but Brown County rallied for a 47-20 win in an opening-round Class 3A sectional game. The Eagles (5-5) scored 47 consecutive points to lead 47-6 at halftime. Wanblee Roux scored on touchdown runs of 2, 10 and 10 yards and a 27-yard reception from Seth Oliphant, all in the first quarter. Oliphant threw two scoring passes to Malachi Nickels and ran for another touchdown in the second period. Brown County will host Owen Valley in the sectional semifinals on Friday, Oct. 29.

Miller wins at individual singles tournament
Summary: Brown County’s Josh Miller beat Bedford North Lawrence’s Steven Graham 6-3, 6-3 to advance in the individual singles tournament. If Columbus North’s Hank Lin wins in today’s team regional final, Miller will be the sectional champion and advance to next week’s singles regional.

Brown County 3, West Vigo 1
Summary: Brown County overcame a second-set setback to claim a 26-24, 16-25, 25-15, 25-11 Western Indiana Conference win at West Vigo. Mary Rygiel pounded 14 kills, Abigail Bowman recorded 28 assists and Londyn Koester notched 19 digs to lead the Eagles (10-8, 4-5). Also for Brown County, Abigail Watson tallied 10 kills, and Bowman added eight kills. Rygiel and Milly Patrick each had 12 digs.

Summary: Brown County pulled out a 25-21, 25-18, 25-13 win against Bloomfield. The Eagles improved to 11-8.
