BRIGHT SPOT: Carpenter Hills O’Brown Realty donates coats to God’s Grace

More than 20 coats were recently donated to God’s Grace who will give them to children in need throughout the county.

Carpenter Hills O’Brown Realty agents presented Mary Kilgore of God’s Grace with 26 boys and girls winter coats last month.

God’s Grace, sponsored by Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship, has provided free clothing, linens and toiletries to Brown County since 2008. They work with social services agencies, first responders and schools to get residents what they need.

God’s Grace will disperse the coats throughout the county to children.

Recently, God’s Grace gave away new coats to boys and girls at a drive thru pop-up food pantry at the Unity Baptist Church in November.

God’s Grace also hosts the annual back-to-school event On the Road Again. At that event, children can receive gently used outfits, coats, new underwear and socks, a pair of new gym shoes, pajamas, and a bag of personal hygiene items.

Licensed professionals are also onsite to provide haircuts. Personal shoppers are on hand to guide shoppers in making choices, finding correct sizes and carrying selected items.

The ministry accepts donations of clothing, toiletries and money. It is also open to volunteers. Those interested should contact Kilgore at 812-720-1187.

God’s Grace is located on the second level of Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship. It is open the first Monday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. and every Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m.

It is also open by appointment, especially in the case of emergencies, according to their website.
