TOWN NEWS: Town council OK’s handbook, resolutions

Town council approves handbook, resolutions

Nashville Town Council approved a number of items at their monthly meeting in February.

The town council unanimously approved the adoption of a policy and procedures handbook for the council.

The manual was introduced at an organizational workshop on Jan. 6. Municipal consultant Dax Norton presented a draft of a policies and procedures since the council currently did not have any at the time.

Such a manual serves to assist town council by “documenting accepted practices and clarifying expectations,” the first page of the draft states.

The document is 23-pages made of nine chapters outlining items such as powers and responsibilities, financial matters, conflicts and liability, interaction with staff and officials and the conducting council meetings.

Two resolutions were also adopted at the meeting on Feb. 17 to authorize applications to see how much funding the town could get from the State Revolving Fund loan program. Both signatory authorization resolutions are for improvements to the drinking water and wastewater systems in order to meet state and federal regulations.
