Local artists featured at gallery

The pottery of Dylan Quackenbush and the woodturnings of Max Monts will be featured at Hoosier Artist Gallery, 45 S. Jefferson St., during the month of April.

Quackenbush uses local clay he digs himself as well as some commercially purchased clay in his pottery, which he fires in a catenary arch cross draft kiln he built himself. His studio is just north of Nashville.

Monts began woodturning in an eighth grade woodshop class. He shapes his wooden bowls and other artful wood objects with a lathe. In his retirement, Monts teaches classes at the Marc Adams School of Fine Woodturning in Franklin, Indiana.

Quackenbush will be giving a pottery demonstration at the rear of the gallery during the Fourth Friday Art Walk from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
