Cops vs. Teachers Basketball Game

Brown County law enforcement and teachers face off once again to raise money for the The Brown County Shop With A Cop program at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Brown County High School, 235 Schoolhouse Lane.

This program offers opportunities for local youth to interact with officers, receive needed items, and receive the opportunity to get Christmas gifts each year.

The Shop With a Cop program takes place in December. Local police officers will take a number of children to Walmart to pick out Christmas gifts. Children will need transportation.

The schools and other child serving agencies pass along names of children who would benefit from participating in the program.

The Brown County Children’s Fund gives Walmart vouchers for each child in a family. At least one child in the family must attend Brown County schools.

Kids are paired with someone from the sheriff’s department who then helps them pick out clothing, like a coat and jeans, along with toys. Dispatchers, jail staff, deputies and reserve deputies all volunteer to be shopping buddies.

Donations for Shop With a Cop can be mailed to P.O. Box 1532, made out to “Brown County Shop With a Cop.” The event is its own 501(c)3 and can be used as a tax deduction. Forms are available if needed.
