NASHVILLE – A 39-year-old Indianapolis man Nicholas Hardin has been charged with a level 6 felony for attempted theft.

On Aug. 14, 2023, Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Bales was dispatched to James Woodmansee’s house in Nashville for a report of bank fraud.

According to the report, Woodmansee has become aware of fraudulent charges to his checking account through Woodforest National Bank. He allegedly showed Bales the account summary with nine fraudulent charges totaling $4,018.30 for purchases through Paypal, Doordash and Mercari.

According to the report, a Paypal charges was to Nick Hardin. Woodmansee allegedly told Bales that Hardin routinely ran errands for him including purchasing groceries, doing general property maintenance, lawncare and conducting bank deposits.

Woodmansee showed Bales the messages he had sent Hardin confronting him about the fraudulent charges and Hardin allegedly denied having any knowledge of the charges, he also said that he lost the card for the Paypal account and did not know the pin code to access it.

Woodmansee told Bales that Hardin allegedly conducted a bank deposit for him shortly before the fraudulent charges. According to the report, Woodmansee provided Hardin with a sealed envelope containing cash and his wife’s death benefit check to deposit. He allegedly asked Hardin for a receipt to prove the deposit had been made and the receipt stated that $3,400 was deposited.

According to the report, on Sep. 21 the stolen money was returned to Woodmansee’s account.

In the month between August and March, numerous subpoenas duces tecum’s were served to Paypal, Fifth Third Bank, Google, Door Dash and Mercari. According to the report, the responses to the subpoenas revealed multiple names that were linked to each account Woodmansee sent money to. Hardin was allegedly among the list for PayPal and DoorDash, among six other names attached to the Mercari purchases.

Woman charged with multiple felonies

NINEVEH – A 27-year-old Nineveh woman Summer Addison has been charged with two level 6 felonies for possession of a narcotic drug and a legend drug. She was also charged with two class A misdemeanors for possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement.

On Feb. 27 Sergeant Austin Schonfeld and Sheriff’s Deputies Jacob Gibson and Oliver Hitz attempted a warrant service at an address that was allegedly listed as Summer’s address on the warrant. According to the report, they were met with Summer’s grandfather James Addison who told them that he had not seen her since earlier in the day.

Schonfeld and Hitz related while Gibson kept speaking with James and they allegedly heard a woman yell “shut up” coming from inside the residence. According to the report, Schonfeld asked James who else was in the residence and told him what they heard. He asked James if Summer was in the house and James allegedly advised that she might be. Schonfeld and Gibson went into the basement and garage and did not find anyone. According to the report Schonfeld later heard yelling coming from upstairs and went to the main story of the residence to see a woman’s legs dangling from the banister above.

Schonfeld allegedly tried to grab the woman but she was already falling. According to the report, Summer ended up banging her head off of the vacuum cleaner and couch armrest. She allegedly landed on her back and was complaining about back and head pain. According to the report, she was yelling obscenities to James and the deputies.

Schonfeld allegedly handcuffed Summer and asked Dispatch to start Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department.

According to the report, police observed a glass smoking device, scraper and numerous pieces of aluminum foil with burn residue scattered throughout the bedroom and bathroom.

According to the report, Summer was yelling at the deputies to get out of her room. Schonfeld allegedly also located a clear plastic corner baggie with a brown flay substance that is believed to be heroin. According to the report, Schonfeld also located a prescription medication addressed to Summer’s deceased grandmother. Allegedly there were matching pills on the opposite side of the bedroom, some broken in half.

According to the report, Summer was transported to the hospital.

Vehicle crashes into stopped car on 46

WASHINGTON TWP. – On March 27 Sheriff’s Deputy Zaccary Sheppard responded to a crash on State Road 46 at the intersection of Forest Hills Drive.

According to the report, there were two vehicles involved in the accident. Alyn Brown the driver of the first vehicle said that he was driving on State Road 46 when the second vehicle was allegedly stopped in the roadway.

Cameron Lemke the driver of the other vehicle said that he was completely stopped with his turn signals on while he waited to turn left.

According to the report, Brown tried swerving around Lemke’s vehicle and struck it on the rear passenger side. Brown was not injured by the crash.

According to the report, Lemke’s infant was in the backseat but appeared uninjured and was given to its mother so Lemke could be inspected by EMS. Lemke’s vehicle allegedly sustained heavy damage and he was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital to be checked out.
