Brown County Theatre Department is gearing up for the upcoming spring musical, Little Shop of Horrors with opening night on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Brown County High School Auditorium.

Little Shop of Horrors is a combination horror story, love story, and a twist of eclipse with the show week being the same week as this year’s solar eclipse.

“Little Shop Of Horrors has something for everyone — action, romance, revenge, betrayal and a ton of other secrets to be uncovered,” said BCHS senior and lead director and choreographer Lilly Voils.

The show was picked off a list of show ideas and approved by students, as well as faculty and administration. The planning took a year before it was finalized.

“I am really excited about the musical because it’s a comedy and has great music,” Brown County Theatre Director John Elmore said. “It’s truly a memorial event.”

The cast includes Voils playing Audrey, sophomore Dereck Middleton as Seymour, senior Conner Henderson playing Mr. Mushnik, junior Sawyer Kelp as the voice of the plant and junior Cameron Higgins playing Dr. Orin Scrivello.

Little Shop of Horrors is also making a comeback this year. It was the first musical performed when the BCHS Auditorium was added to the high school in 1991.

“I am super excited for the people who had seen the show before to see the difference 30 years can make,” Voils said.

On Thursday, the BCHS Theatre Department has scheduled merchant’s night, where local shop owners, as well as one guest, can see the show for free.

Little Shop Of Horrors will be playing at the Brown County High School Auditorium, Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“I believe that our production of Little Shops Of Horrors is worth seeing because of the hard work and dedication put in by our cast and crew to make it the best it can be,” Voils said. “We are immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished and hope you can join us for one of our five performances.”

Tickets can be purchased at www.browncountytheatredepartment.com. Adult tickets are $13 and student tickets are $7.

Be sure to come show support for the hardworking and dedicated students of the Brown County Theatre Department.
