Letter: Thanks for supporting kids, staff at junior high

To the editor:

The first annual junior high lock-in was held on Friday, April 12 from 3 to 10 p.m. at Brown County Junior High School. The event was co-sponsored by the Brown County Junior High School PTO and BCJHS staff. It was a huge success, with 112 junior high students and 24 teachers and staff participating. The event raised $1,399.15 to support the BCJHS Student Activity Fund for 2019-20 school year.

The night was full of exciting programs and activities for our students: a gaming room, escape room, inflatable obstacle course, Zorb balls, dodgeball, dance, face painting, fingernail painting, hair styling, cooking, karaoke and more.

We would like to deeply thankful to all our wonderful teachers and staff who volunteered their time and efforts to create this memorable night for the students: Ms. Sharon Snodgress, Ms. Kelly McPheeters, Mr. Dan Lewellen, Ms. Laurette Roales, Mr. Mike Harmon, Ms. Cheryl Wyman, Ms. Kaitlyn Christie, Ms. Jane Phillips, Ms. Debi Sumner, Ms. Kady Lane, Mr. Kevin Roush, Mr. Mike Potts, Mr. Tim Hebert, Ms. Sarah Cochran, Ms. Alyssa Stanley, Ms. Terri Whitcomb, Ms. Christy Pruitt, Ms. Kelly Morse, Ms. Sue Thompson, Mr. Jason Kirchhofer, Mr. Jon Petro, Ms. Tori Norman, Mr. Greg Pagnard and Mr. Brian Garman.

We would also like to thank Deputy Josh Stargell, Nashville Police Officer Abby Beaver, and BCHS alumni Jori Bruner and Alex Wilkerson who volunteered their time for the fun activities for the students.

We also would like to thank Big Woods, the Brown County IGA and Helmsburg General Store for donating food, as well as Michael Chamblee, Heather Nicholson and Clint Studbaker from the Brown County Rotary Club, and several anonymous BCJHS teachers and staff for donating money for the students who could not afford to pay for the event.

In addition, we would like to thank PTO parents Danielle Watson and Allison O’Shea for chairing the event and Gretchen Tipton for all of her help.

A big thanks to our wonderful PTO parents for donating food and desserts for the BCJHS Teacher Appreciation week of May 20-24: Ginger Knight and Johnny’s Grub To Go, Janny Royalty, Allison O’Shea, Jenny Austin, Erin Kirchhofer, Danielle Watson, Marie deWeerdt, Amy Patterson, Christina Rygiel, Clara Stanley, Jackie Bethards, Gretchen and Nate Tipton, and Kristy Harden.

Thanks to our amazing PTO, teachers and staff, our junior high students have had a wonderful school year full of fun activities and events they will remember for many years.

We also would like to thank our wonderful Brown County community for your great support for our BCJHS students and PTO. We hope you have a wonderful summer!
