Letter: Thanks to all Chocolate Walk helpers, businesses

To the editor:

Thank you, Brown County and the Town of Nashville, for the amazing support of Brown County Humane Society’s 12th Annual Chocolate Walk held Saturday, Nov. 9.

It was a sunny autumn day for our attendees and visitors to stroll the streets of Nashville and gather at the courthouse for music and to meet and greet some of our shelter dogs. Thirty-five shops, restaurants and galleries provided our “walkers” over 40,000 chocolate delights. We applaud their time, energy and creative abilities.

The Chocolate Walk committee would also like to thank our sponsors for their generous support of this important fundraiser: A&R Storage, A Stone’s Throw Home Stay, Brown County Inn, Curry Auto Center, Hills O’Brown Vacation Rentals, J.B. Goods, Jones Law Office, Miller’s Ice Cream, Nashville Spice Company, New Leaf, Re/Max Team, Sam’s Club Columbus, Seward Party Rentals and our media sponsor WKKG 101.5.

This event requires over 80 tireless volunteers and we thank you all for your level of commitment to the homeless animals of this county. A sincere thank-you to Reva Brummett and Nancy Pugh for providing music. We also thank Cheryl and Ron Ferguson and daughter, Wendi, of Our Sandwich Place for generously supplying hot chocolate to warm our volunteers, and the Nashville Express train for providing free service to our participants.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the People’s Choice Awards:

Taste: Tied for first, The Wild Olive and Sweetea’s

Creativity: Bird’s Nest Cafe

Presentation: Touch of Silver, Gold and Old

Congratulations for your outstanding efforts!

We are also happy to announce that Lavender, a beautiful calico cat, and Fabian, a very sweet Great Pyrenees, were adopted thanks to this event.

Lastly, a sincere thank-you to all of our faithful “walkers.” The 13th Chocolate Walk will be Saturday, Nov. 14th, 2020. Mark your calendars!

Mary Jo Conley, Chocolate Walk committee, Brown County Humane Society
