Peter Panozzo Jr. (Pete)

Peter Panozzo Jr. (Pete) was born in Chicago, IL, on January 26th, 1949. Pete passed away July 19th, 2021, from natural causes.

Preceding Pete in death were his parents, Peter Panozzo, Sr. and Gladys Panozzo.

Pete is survived by his children, Nick Panozzo, of Bloomington, and Tony Panozzo (Jen), of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter Isabella Panozzo, of Sisters, OR; his ex-wife, Suzy Panozzo, of Nashville; sister Diane Patsel of Portage; nieces Tammy Patsel Gonzalez (Martin), of Valparaiso, and Casey Crownover (Aaron), of Valparaiso; Nephew Chad Patsel (Jennifer), of Westfield; great nieces and nephews McKenzie and Sydnee Cabe, Aaron and Brett Crownover, Kennedy and Gage Gonzalez, Isabella and Gatlyn Patsel; and great-great niece Paisley Hoffman.

Pete attended Emerson High School in Gary, Indiana. He enlisted in the Navy shortly after his high school graduation. Upon returning from the Navy, he worked in the steel mills, but was not satisfied with that lifestyle. Pete visited Bloomington, was immediately enamored with its small-town feel, and he ended up moving to the area. In 1974 he purchased land on Crooked Creek Road in Brown County and spent several years moving and rebuilding a log cabin that became his home for the next 47 years. After constructing his own home, he continued working in the construction business in and around Monroe and Brown Counties. If any of his family or friends had a project, Pete always took pride in being on-site to share knowledge or lend a hand.

Pete spent much of his life traveling, golfing, gardening, and watching IU basketball. In his younger years, he developed a passion for souping up and street racing cars. Later in life, he delighted in rebuilding vintage cars and motorcycles and could often be found in his garage working on an automotive project. He adored his granddaughter, Isabella, and relished the time he got to spend with her and the rest of his family.

Pete will be celebrated by friends and family at a small gathering on August 22, 2021.
