Congresswoman Erin Houchin working to address security concerns

Following the recent assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump, Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) has been actively working to address critical security concerns. Recently, she introduced the Presidential Election Resource Investment for Major Threat Response (PERIMTR) Act.

The PERIMTR Act mandates that major Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates, as well as former Presidents, receive the same level of protection as the sitting President. This includes enhanced security protocols, agents, and equipment. The bill also includes a “pay for,” ensuring that it will not cost taxpayers any additional funds.

“Protecting our national leaders is not a partisan issue—it’s a matter of national security,” Houchin said. “It should not have taken two assassination attempts to increase President Trump’s security detail. This legislation ensures that all individuals who hold or have held our nation’s highest offices are provided with the necessary security to prevent and respond to potential threats. We continue to implore the USSS to establish higher security protocols for the former president, including consideration of perimeter protection.”
