Artists, apply for America Recycles Day show
COLUMBUS — In celebration of America Recycles Day, Nov. 14, the annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show will take place from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at The Commons, a civic space downtown.
Event organizers are seeking professional artists and craftspeople who reuse and/or recycle materials to apply by the Friday, June 15 deadline.
A featured artist to be selected will receive mention in all publicity, a photo of his or her work featured on posters and post cards, free booth space and a complimentary stay Friday, Nov. 9 at the Hotel Indigo downtown.

Florals ‘in bloom’ at art guild during June
Special events and a workshop are planned in June in conjunction with the free exhibit, “Blooms,” at the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St.
“Present Blooms” features guild artist member works in florals, from still life to landscape. “Past Blooms” features hand-picked selections from the permanent collection plus recently discovered gardening notes written by artist V.J. Cariani.

Indiana Heritage Arts annual exhibit open in June
Indiana Heritage Arts’ 40th annual exhibition and sale opened to the public Saturday, June 9 and runs for 22 days at the Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artist Drive. Admission is free.
The IHA, a nonprofit, encourages artists with Hoosier connections to paint Brown County scenery and its people in the spirit of the traditional early Indiana artists who founded the art colony in the early 1900s.
This year’s judge, Stapleton Kearns, is a New England plein air and studio painter of more than 30 years.

Downtown Art Walk moved to fourth Fridays
The Village Art Walk in downtown Nashville has moved to fourth Fridays of each month through October. The next event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. June 22.
The 12 participating galleries include Hoosier Artist, Hereshome, The Emerald Pencil, B3 Gallery, Ascension Fine Arts, Brown County Art Guild, 4th Sister Vintage, Chateau Thomas Winery, Spears Gallery, Brown County Craft Gallery, Trilogy Gallery and the Brown County Art Gallery.
Friday art walks include food, music, wine tasting, demonstrations, paint-alongs and other special art events.
Plein air paint out, luncheon set June 23
HAMBLEN TWP. — An opportunity to paint anywhere on the grounds of the Flower and Herb Barn, Farmhouse Cafe & Tea Room will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 23.
The event will be led by Brown County Art Guild member Chris Newlund. It includes a seasonal garden lunch at the cafe, 5167 Bean Blossom Road. The rain-or-shine event costs $75 per person or $65 per art guild patron member.

Paint by the glass offered at winery
Participants can create their own painted glass with help from Poka Dotz Designs glass company while enjoying a glass of wine. Brown County Winery, 4520 State Road 46 East, will host two sessions to choose from, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 to 4 p.m., both on Sunday, June 24.
Each session costs $30 per person. Glass, paint and instruction are provided, as is a glass of wine.

Explore sound meditation, acoustics at guild
Reiki master practitioner Janiece Jaffe will lead an exploration of singing bowls and voice for sound healing at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24. The exploration will be at the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St.
Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat, blanket or pillow. A $10 to $15 offering is suggested.

Register for flower arranging competition by June 30
Flower arrangers can compete in the “Paint and Petals” exhibition at the Brown County Art Gallery July 7 and 8.
Anyone age 18 and older can enter to win cash prizes in the amateur or professional category. Flowers used must be seasonal.
All contestants must register by Saturday, June 30 by calling or emailing the gallery. Entry is free.
Members of the Gallery Artist Association will paint special paintings featuring flowers in the tradition of early artists who grew flowers and painted them.
The exhibit will open at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7 with awards presented at 2 p.m. Admission will cost $5 per person Saturday and Sunday. All gallery exhibits will be open and refreshments served. The paintings will be offered in a special sale.

Stamping, stenciling classes offered in August
Ken Oliver will teach classes in card making and other creative techniques at the Brown County History Center Aug. 10 and 11.
Galaxy cards will be taught from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 10. Participants will create create six cards using Color Burst powders and liquid metals. The cost for this class is $57.
Big Book of Color Burst Techniques will be taught from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. Participants will create a Color Burst watercolor journal. Instruction will focus on color theory, layering colors, stenciling, stamping, coloring and wet-on-wet painting. Techniques can be applied to card making, scrapbooking, mixed media projects, watercolor painting and home decor projects. The cost is $79.
It’s Hip to be a Square will be taught from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 11. Students will learn stenciling techniques with brushes and Color Burst Ink Pads to create six extra-large European-style cards. The cost is $57.
Watercolor Hibiscus Painting will be taught from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Students will create one 12-by-12 framed hibiscus painting using Color Burst powders. Students will learn about value, shading to create three-dimensional art, composition and color. This class is suitable for all ages and skill levels. The cost is $65.
Until July 15, students who sign up for both Friday classes can register for $126 ($10 off); those who sign up for both Saturday classes will pay $112 ($10 off). The first six people who sign up for all four classes will receive a free gift from Wishful Thinking.

Brown County Art Guild accepting new members
The Brown County Art Guild will be accepting applications from new artist members between Aug. 13 and 19.
Members will vote on the applicants at the annual meeting Aug. 26. Notifications of acceptance will be issued no later than Aug. 31.
Applicants must be qualified professional artists working for exhibit and sale of artwork on a serious, dedicated basis. Handmade market in October accepting vendors
The Brown County Handmade Market, Parkview Church of the Nazarene’s craft show extravaganza, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.
The market will feature a variety of artisans selling one-of-a-kind handmade and upcycled creations, including accessories, home decor, apparel, holiday items, gifts and more. It will include vendors and food, seating areas, a photo booth and a children’s activity area.

The Paint Box art gallery, 92 W. Franklin in Antique Alley, is celebrating its 45th year in Nashville.

B3 Gallery, in downtown Nashville at 61 W. Main St., is expanding. The owners are seeking artists to display 2-D and 3-D work.

Shared art studio space available in town
B3 Gallery has created a space for artists and the community to come together.
S3, the Nashville “shared studio and maker space” is on the second floor of the gallery at 61 W. Main St. It is a meeting area for artists, craftspeople, inventors, clubs, seminars, classes or individuals.
S3 can provide painting and drawing easels, an alternative process darkroom, macro photography equipment, a digital projector, a glass annealing kiln and burnout kiln, PCB etching equipment and tanks, leaded glass tools, metal forming and casting tools, electronics and robotics fabrication tools, various computer numerical control tools, a scroll saw, band saw, drill press, centrifuge, bench grinder/polisher, laser cutter/engraver, air compressor, vacuum pumps and chemistry vent hood.
The organizers seek “fun, energetic, enthusiastic and creative people to bring life to the space.”
