Emma Summers
Emma Summers, pitcher for the Brown County High School varsity softball team, was nominated for 2019 Gatorade Indiana Softball Player of the Year award.
For 34 years, Gatorade has been recognizing one winner from each state and the District of Columbia in each of 12 sports. From those winners, one male and one female athlete are named Gatorade High School Athletes of the Year.
This season, Summers amassed a 0.49 earned run average, 249 strikeouts and allowed just 46 hits. She also pitched five no-hitters, ranking first in the state for that stat, and 14 shutouts, according to the Indianapolis Star.
