Rev. Sim F. Brock, Jr., age 77 passed away Monday morning, Aug. 26, 2019, at his home in Brown County.
He was born March 17, 1942 in Brown County, to his parents, the late Sim France and Virgie (Simpson) Brock Sr. Sim attended school in Columbus and went on to marry Doris J. (Henderson) Brock on July 27, 1960 in Johnson County. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2007.
Sim was also preceded in death by siblings, Irene Moore, Beulah Hatfield, Jewel Brock, Nellie Joe Brock, Hobart “Ag” Brock, Rufus Brock, Lloyd Brock, Edgar Brock, Morris Brock and Lester Brock.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha A. (Bruce) Brock, whom he married on Feb. 29, 2008 in Nashville. He is also survived by his children, Tanny J. Brock of Nashville, Timothy L. (Teresa) Brock of Trafalgar and Ted A. Brock of Seymour; step children, Diane (Ed) Willis of Seymour, Dewayne (Tina) Dunning of Martinsville and Delbert (Sabrina) Dunning of Brown County; siblings, Lottie Collins and Doris Arnold, both of Brown County; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Sim worked for 13 years at the Columbus Foundry before becoming the owner and operator of Brock’s Logging in Brown County. He finally retired in 2008 as a truck driver for Griffin Industries in Columbus after 12 years of service.
Since retirement, Sim has enjoyed preaching; most recently at the Greasy Creek Community Church in Nashville. He also enjoyed woodworking, playing his banjo & harmonica, reading his Bible and tending to his vegetable garden. Sim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The Revs. Glenn Poynter and Ron Hampton will conduct a funeral service on Friday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spearsville Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Brown County.
