Two Brown County artists were among those celebrated:

  • Sharon Bussert, “Spring Mill State Park,” photography; and
  • Charlene Marsh, “Snow in Yellowwood Forest, January 27, 2019,” plein air oil painting.

“Being able to promote female artists throughout our state each year brings me such pride and joy,” Crouch said. “We had so many incredible pieces of art submitted, and I cannot wait to have them displayed in my office. There are so many talented Hoosier women and I want them all to continue to share their artistic talents with others.”

The Hoosier Women Artists program was established in 2008 to celebrate the importance of the arts in Indiana’s communities and showcase the work of talented female artists throughout the state. The annual exhibition was announced in January and 46 honorees were selected out of more than 112 entries. The entries were judged by a panel of visual Indiana arts professionals and then selected for display by Crouch and Mitchell.
