Zeta Phi Chapter

On Nov. 3, members of Zeta Phi Chapter presented Carrie Foley with the Tri Kappa Chooses You award for her cheerful, loving dedication and service to others.

When Carrie founded Silver Linings in 2013 it was a homeless shelter for women and their children.

“Today it continues to offer love and support to women who have challenging lives in our community,” an announcement from Zeta Phi said.

Silver Linings cannot exist without community support from Brown County Community Foundation, St. Vincent de Paul, Tri Kappa and individual donors in our community.

Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Seasons Lodge in the Fireplace Lounge, 560 State Road 46 East.

The guest speaker will be Bob Hammel, who will share memories of the 1972 Munich Olympics which in one day transitioned from a celebration of Mark Spitz’s seven Gold Medals to the horror of the execution of nine Israeli athletes.

Hammel has experience as an author, editor, journalist and public speaker. He has reported on a variety of games and athletes, including the Olympics, Pan American Games, 23 NCAA Final Fours, Major League Baseball playoffs and World Series, college football bowl games, Muhammad Ali’s last championship victory, and dozens of Indiana high school basketball Final Fours.

He has authored over more than a dozen books on topics ranging from major league scouting to coaching strategy with Bob Knight, to biographical works on Bill Cook’s entrepreneurial success and his restoration and historic preservation efforts.

Members of the community, especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to our community, are invited to attend.
