The Meet the Candidates event hosted by the League of Women Voters was on Thursday at the History Center. The event center was crowded with a large turnout of 13 candidates and around three dozen people in attendance.
The meeting started with League Vice President Sunny Leerkamp opening up the conversation and explaining the agenda. She then introduced each candidate as they got up to say a few words.
Each candidate was allotted two minutes to introduce themselves and what office they were running for.
Shari Frank, President of the League told the Democrat that she is very happy that people came to the meeting and that so many candidates were able to participate.
“Every form (of meeting) has advantages and disadvantages,” Frank said. “The advantages with this are that by League rules, we were allowed to have all candidates involved. People get to go into detail with candidates on questions that they have. The only disadvantage is that if it is a good question, they are not able to share the answers with everyone else.”
