NASHVILLE

James Woodrow Goodman, Jr. of Nashville IN passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 in his home with his beloved wife Joan and dog Casper near his side. He was 73 years “young”. Jim was born May 05, 1950 in Bloomington, IN to the late James Sr. and Henrietta (Parrish) Goodman.

While still in college Jim married the love of his life, Joan Koshewa Goodman, on August 15, 1971 in New Albany, IN. It is so true that “opposites attract” and they remained so for an amazing 53 plus years of marriage.

He received a BA from Indiana University in 1972. Soon after he became employed by General Motors and spent his 36 year career in corporate sales, taking himself and his family to live in 7 different locations throughout the US. He and Joan enjoyed traveling throughout the country and abroad. He retired as a Zone Manager in 2008. In 2012 Jim and Joan moved to Nashville, IN, and over time developed wonderful friends and neighbors in Brown County. Jim and Joan became active members of Nashville United Methodist Church and were volunteers at Mothers Cupboard. Jim belonged to the Masonic Lodge 135 as a 33rd degree Master Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Brown County Shriners Club where he previously served as President.

Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, sportsman and golfer. He had the utmost respect for all things in nature. Jim had a passion from a young age for riding motorcycles, and logged several thousands of miles on his Harley taking yearly cross-country trips with his friends. His favorite daily past time at 5:30pm was to sit on the front porch, Casper by his side, and a good bourbon in his hand.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He remained committed his entire life to his faith in God, and his unconditional love for his family and his country.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Joan (Koshewa) Goodman; his son Jared Goodman and wife Nicole; three beautiful and cherished granddaughters Reagan, Harper and Nora; brother Tim Goodman and wife Laura, two nieces Lyndsey and Cortney, and their beautiful families. Also to be remembered are his four sisters-in-law, Carol, Joy, Connie and Kathy, and their loving families. Their unwavering love and support have been such a gift to us.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Goodman, and daughter Heather Elizabeth Goodman.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Nashville United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to The Shriners Childrens Hospital, Lexington, KY at “donate.lovetotherescue.org”
