High school students named Rising Stars
The Indiana Association of School Principals recognized the following students as 2017 Rising Stars of Indiana: Bethany Barngrover, Solei Garland, Cannon Kelp and Abraham Oliver.
The award was presented for the first time this year as a complement to the Indiana Academic All-Stars recognition program for high school seniors. Each Indiana high school could choose up to four juniors based on their academic achievement.
The All-Stars program, in its 31st year, was expanded to “hopefully provide these deserving students with the recognition they deserve, and also additional scholarship opportunities through our supporting university partners,” according to Dr. Todd Bess, director of the IASP. With the new award, 971 students at 256 schools were recognized.
IUPUC names fall 2016 dean’s list students
COLUMBUS — Indiana University-Purdue University named the following students to its dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester: Chayli Dakota Brock, Ryan Decker and Joshua Diego Luna, all of Morgantown; Kristin Leigh Bickers, Jonathan Bryce Boyer, Lori Noel Haggard, Bryant L. Inman, Emily Marie Kelp, Emma Louise Lawson and Caleb Wayne Willey, all of Nashville; and Pamela Ann Craven, Charles Christian Kuhfahl, Michael Rutherford and Karen Alice Smiar, all of Nineveh.
Dean’s list students must have earned at least a 3.7 term grade-point average.
