Honors: Daniel Sheppard, Annalise Haldeman, Curtis Higgins

Daniel Sheppard

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington awarded its first bachelor’s degree in environmental health last spring. It went to Bloomington native Daniel Sheppard, who did his internship at the Brown County Health Department.

Sheppard started his college career at Ivy Tech, then transferred to IUPUI. He decided to narrow his focus to environmental health — a field concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environments which affect air and water quality, food safety, workplace and other spaces.

During his internship in Brown County, he was able to gain experience in septic work, water sampling, food safety and restaurant inspections.

He began working as a field chemist at Heritage Environmental in Indianapolis this summer. He’ll also be starting the School of Public Health’s online safety management graduate degree program this fall.

“The internship was a great experience and was a lot of variety,” Sheppard said.

Annalise Haldeman

ITHACA, New York — Unionville native Annalise Haldeman was named to the dean’s list in Ithaca College’s School of Communications for the spring 2017 semester. She is majoring in integrated marketing communications.
