Koch is Arc of Indiana’s Legislator of the Year

STATEHOUSE — The Arc of Indiana has chosen State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) as its 2019 Legislator of the Year.

Koch received the award for his work on Senate Enrolled Act 380 during the 2019 legislative session, which created the option of supported decision making agreements instead of guardianships for adults who need support and accommodations in making, communicating and effectuating decisions. The law also requires a court to consider less restrictive options before appointing a guardian.

“Sen. Koch has been a longtime champion of Hoosiers with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Hannah Carlock, director of public policy for The Arc of Indiana.

The Arc of Indiana is an organization committed to all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities realizing their goals of living, learning, working and fully participating in the community.

Koch, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, serves Senate District 44, which includes all or parts of Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence and Monroe counties.

Quaff ON!, Nashville make ’20 in 20′ lists

Quaff ON! Brewing Co. and the village of Nashville have made two Top 20 lists of “must-see, must-do Indiana experiences” organized by the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.

The website https://visitindiana.com/2020 will be releasing new lists throughout the year in an effort to get more people — residents and visitors — to explore all Indiana has to offer. So far, the office has released lists highlighting small towns, destination dining and breweries. Nashville was included on two of those three lists.

Nashville was ranked No. 8 on the small towns list, for communities of 25,000 people or less. The Top 20 were (in order): Franklin, Madison, Angola, Corydon, Wabash, Aurora, Auburn, Nashville, Greenfield, Huntingburg, Greencastle, Winona Lake, Fortville, Goshen, Shelbyville, Vincennes, Richmond, Danville, Jasper and Whiting.

The list-makers wrote: “Nestled in the hills of Brown County, Nashville is a tiny town with amazing shopping, art history and lots of charm!

Quaff ON! was highlighted on the breweries list, which was listed alphabetically instead of in ranked order. It reads: “Quaff ON! Brewing Company was formed in 2012 in response to the demand for the iconic craft beers they developed at Big Woods Brewing Company, their brewpub located in the heart of Brown County Indiana. Why ‘Quaff ON!’? Because from the day Big Woods threw open its doors in 2009, Quaff ON! has been the rallying cry, the toast, and the salutation of our loyal fans.”
