PET TAILS: What’s in store for this year’s Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta

Bobbing for Hot Dogs, Fastest Fetch, Sneaker Sniffer — those are just a few of the games the dogs will be playing at this year’s Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta, a FUNdraiser for the Brown County Humane Society.

Join fellow dog-lovers on Sunday, May 19 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Deer Run Park in Nashville for an afternoon of dawg-gone fun for humans and their furry canine companions. There will be games, contests, pampering stations, information booths and shopping.

There are plenty of contests, including Fastest Licker, Best Kisser, Best Costume, Biggest Dog, Wet T-shirt, Best Trick and more.

The games are fun for dogs of all sizes and abilities. For some dogs it’s an opportunity to show off their skills; for others it’s a chance to just bask in the attention. Games cost $1 each and game tickets will be available via cash or credit cards (new this year).

Of course, there will also be the walk: a parade of all of the dogs and an introduction of adoptable shelter dogs. Plus, the male and female dogs that raise the most money are crowned as royalty and receive fantastic prize baskets.

Can’t make it to the Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta but still want to support the shelter pets? Donate to vote for one of the king and queen contestants.

The male and female dogs that raise the most money will be crowned king and queen of the fiesta.

Will Jesse Jane be crowned queen again, or will there be a newcomer on the throne? Can Dobie Barnard stay in the lead to take the king’s crown? Your vote will help decide the winners. Best of all, the money raised all goes to support the shelter pets.
