Student COVID case at high school; school still open

A student at Brown County High School has tested positive for COVID-19, but the school building will not be closed tomorrow. The following message was sent to parents from the superintendent’s office this afternoon:

“We received notification today, 11/4/20, that a student at Brown County High School has tested positive for Covid-19.

“A small number of close contacts were identified. These close contacts were released from school before the end of the school day today.

“Because of limited exposure of this active case at school, the Brown County Health Department finds it unnecessary for Brown County High School to be closed tomorrow for cleaning. The Brown County Health Department is requiring our custodial teams to deploy deep sanitization overnight. Our custodial teams are already mobilizing to make this happen.

“As such, all schools in Brown County Schools will be in session on Thursday, Nov. 5.

“As always, please be vigilant in monitoring your child for symptoms of Covid-19 before they attend school. If your child is symptomatic, please keep your child at home and call the school to receive further instructions.”
